Unlike many other lactase enzyme products, Kerutabs is manufactured in the Netherlands. Many other lactase products are manufactured wherever it is cheapest. This means that one time it may be at manufacturer A or in country A, and the next time at manufacturer B or in country B. As a result, the composition and quality of these products change regularly.
Kerutabs, on the other hand, is produced in the Netherlands by certified companies under very strict pharmaceutical quality requirements. Just the right strength
Kerutabs contains 4,600 FCC lactase enzyme (FCC = Food Chemical Codex).
This is virtually in line with the recommendations of the European Food Safety Authority in its scientific report on the role of the lactase enzyme in people with lactose intolerance. This means that, in most cases, one Kerutabs tablet is sufficient.
If you often take two tablets, then KerutabsFORTE is a good choice. This is double the strength of the ‘standard’ Kerutabs. In that case, one KerutabsFORTE tablet will be sufficient.

Dosage Kerutabs – 4600FCC and KerutabsFORTE – 9200FCC
The dosage of lactase products depends on two factors:
1. the extent to which a person still produces lactase themselves, and
2. the amount of lactose a person consumes. After all, a glass of milk contains more lactose than a dollop of whipped cream. That is why the dosage may also vary.
The dosage for Kerutabs is 1 to 2 tablets each time you consume milk (products). Do not take more than 3 tablets at a time. If you often take 2 tablets at a time, KerutabsFORTE is a good choice. It contains exactly double the dosage of the ‘regular’ Kerutabs. This means you only need to take 1 tablet instead of 2 tablets each time. It's that simple.
Kerutabs® should be taken just before or at the same time as milk (products). You can also take Kerutabs with water if you wish.
Lactase itself is also broken down in the small intestine. All lactase products therefore have a relatively short effect: 30–45 minutes. So if you consume another lactose-containing product after this period, you will need to take another lactase tablet.
Kerutabs is suitable for adults and children aged 3 years and older.
Lactase is a substance produced by the body itself. This occurs in the wall of the small intestine. Because Kerutabs® contains lactase, it is suitable for all ages.
From the age of 3, lactase production can become disrupted. This happens to 15-20% of people in the Netherlands and Belgium. Less or even no lactase is then produced. As a result, lactose (= milk sugars) in milk (products) is no longer broken down sufficiently, causing symptoms when you consume milk (products).
Lactose intolerance in later life
As a person ages, lactase production decreases. As a result, it is common for someone who has never had any problems consuming milk (products) to become lactose intolerant later in life.
